Axios

Axios is a website with news articles. It wants its news articles to be short and simple, so it has paragraphs that are only one or two simple sentences long. On top of that, it'll start its paragraphs with introductions like "Why it matters:" or "The big picture:" and put additional sentences into bullet points.

If you read a lot of Axios articles, this writing style can start to come across as overly terse and unsophistocated. Its headings may also be condescending to its readers.

Controversy[edit | edit source]

Wikipedia says that Axios paid a company money to convince Wikipedia editors to make Wikipedia's article on Axios make them look better.

This is kind of ironic, because the website tries to make it sound like they're not interested in spreading opinions,[1] but the people behind it really do try to influence opinions.
